Checklist of Journals

This checklist serves two purposes. The first column lists journals that publish regularly in rhetoric and argumentation, for the benefit of students doing research in this area. But many communication journals have changed their titles at some point in their run. The Wake Forest library (ZSR) holds the full run of most communication journals. The call number is the same, the volumes are continuously numbered, but as you glance down the row you will see the title change. When looking at the online record for a journal, you will not see the holdings for the same journal under another title. This checklist tracks title changes for each journal. The checklist is limited to journals that publish in rhetoric and argumentation. In my bibliography pages, some citations observe the old title and some the new, depending on what database I got the citation from. The preferred rule is to observe the title that matches the volume the citation appears in. The list also points users to the databases that index each journal. Also, please note the current issues of many journals are not available in full text online and must be retrieved in hard copy from the Periodicals Reading Room. Also older issues of many journals are only available in hard copy. Don't give up until you've been to the stacks. New for January 2004: the database Communication and Mass Media Complete (via Ebscohost) has been added and will replace CommSearch. The links under "database" below are to the specific journal title from the first column, located in CMMC or other database as listed.
