Personal

I live on a farm in Davidson County with my husband, Kent, and three children. My husband is a Vice President with Newbridge Bank and drives to the bank to make a living when he is not working on the farm. My oldest daughter, Lohr, is a senior at The George Washington University in Washington, DC. She is majoring in International Service in the Elliott School of International Affairs. She studied in Berlin last summer and is trying to figure out how to go back after graduation. My other daughter, Lydian, is a senior in high school. She plays on the varsity tennis and basketball teams. She is also a black belt in Karate and loves all sports. Lydi will attend UNC-Wilmington in the fall. My son, Barret, is a freshman in high school. He plays trombone in the high school marching band and wants to be an aerospace engineer. He is also an "Aspie" and is eager to advocate for persons with Asperger's Syndrome.

Our farm is a "Century Farm" which means it has been farmed by Kent's family for over 100 years. Our home is a Queen Anne style farmhouse originally built by Kent's grandparents in 1910. We have renovated it throughout during the last 25 years and some of our efforts were featured at various times in the Greensboro News and Record's Home Section.

I earned my Black Belt in Gensei-Ryu Karate and taught Karate for a number of years in the High Point University Karate class. I no longer actively train, however, because I also love to snow ski and want to use what "knee function" I still have left on the slopes! My favorite places to ski are Winterplace and Jackson Hole. I plan to get to Snowshoe this winter and back out west in a year or two.

I like all kinds of music but I am a devoted fan of hard rock - particularly 70's rock. My favorite bands are America, Three Dog Night, Led Zeppelin, Lynard Skynard, Tom Petty, Bob Seger, Jimi Hendix, The Doors, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Queen, Fleetwood Mac, Moody Blues, and anything on Rock 92. I also have very eclectic tastes in music and listen to such diverse styles as Enya, Antarctica, Depeche Mode, System of a Down, Marilyn Manson, Death Cab for Cutie, and Gregorian Chants.

I love anything to do with technology and I am proud to say that I obtained a Droid on November 6 at 7:00 am!
