The Palmetto Number Theory Series (PANTS) is a series of number theory meetings held in South Carolina, the Palmetto State, and other places in the Southeast. The core members of the PANTS consortium are:

PANTS is funded for the 2018-2019 academic year by grants from the NSA and NSF.

REGISTRATION: If you are going to attend you must email Abbey Bourdon (bourdoam [at] wfu [dot] edu) on or before September 6 (or September 12 if you do not indend to speak) and send the following information:
  • Your name and affiliation.
  • Email address and website (if available).
  • Whether you plan to give a 20 minute contributed talk (please include title and abstract).
  • Whether you intend to apply for travel support.
The registration fee is being paid for by the NSA for all participants.

PANTS has a limited budget from which to provide support for travel. In order to stretch our budget, we encourage car pooling and students to share lodging as much as possible.


TRAVEL: Wake Forest University is located in Winston-Salem, North Carolina (and not in Wake Forest, North Carolina). The closest major airport is the Piedmont Triad International Airport (GSO, about 30 miles east of Wake Forest University). Other major airports are located in Charlotte, NC (CLT, about 90 miles southwest of WFU) and Raleigh, NC (RDU, about 100 miles east).

The conference talks will occur in room 016, in the basement of Manchester Hall (building 20a on the campus map). No permit is needed to park on campus provided you park in a General or Visitor lot (see the campus parking map).

Participants are responsible for making their own hotel arrangements. Rooms have been reserved at the following hotels:

  • Courtyard Marriott Winston-Salem University (3111 University Parkway, Winston-Salem, NC 27105)
    Conference rate: $95/night, includes breakfast for up to 4 people per room. To secure this rate, book here on or before 8/23/2018.
  • Best Western Plus University Inn (3050 University Parkway, Winston-Salem, NC 27105)
    Conference rate: $85/night, includes breakfast. To secure this rate, book here or call the hotel at 336-723-2911 and refer to the WFU Dept. of Mathematics and Statistics Group. Reservations need to be made on or before 9/6/2018.
