Despite my appeals, Gil has decided to remove himself from the list. I believe (and I told him this) that OPE-L benefited greatly by his presence. He was a founding member of OPE-L ... and he will be missed. Late word: Gil has informed me his departure is 'for the time being', rather than necessarily permanent, and he might decide to re-join after he gets through his backlog of projects. In solidarity, Jerry ----- Original Message ----- From: "Gil Skillman" <gskillman@mail.wesleyan.edu> To: <gerald_a_levy@msn.com> Sent: Sunday, February 24, 2002 3:56 PM Jerry, I think it's (past?) time for me to retire from the list. I've gotten a great deal from past exchanges, and a number of interesting and significant issues have been raised in some of the threads I've participated in. But I fear that my engagement in future list discussions might be less productive for a reason Rakesh mentioned in a recent post: while most others on the list seek to build modern Marxian political economic theory on already-established foundations, I tend to think that these foundations must first be rebuilt before useful theoretical applications can be developed. Please convey my best wishes to the rest of the list, and to anyone who wants to continue a particular thread with me, please relay the invitation to contact me personally. My thanks to you for your enormous efforts in maintaining this collective endeavor, and for inviting me to participate in the first place. Sincerely, Gil <snip, JL>
