Doesn't the existence of the capitalist state, nationalism, and militarist
rivarly among imperialist nations pre-suppose the production and
reproduction of a certain kind of irrationality?  I.e. isn't a certain
amount of irrationality, often passing as nationalism, structurally
_necessary_ for the reproduction of capitalism?  I'm thinking here, in
part, of 'necessary illusions' a la Chomsky.
