For the sake of the archive... Krutzen et al. 2002 Contrasting relatedness patterns in bottlenose dolphins(Tursiops sp.) with different alliance strategies. Proceedings of the Royal Society of London series B. 270:497-502 The Krutzen paper no where speaks of dolphin rape, though the media sensationalized its findings. I double checked with the word finder. Krutzen refers to sexual coercion as a reproductive strategy and the alliances which engage in it. Kurtzen et al seem to have studiously avoided the term rape which is not well understood as a strategy for reproductive fitness. I think ethologists and sociobiologists should follow Krutzen's cautiousness I've been persuaded by the criticism of Fausto Sterling, Gowaty, the Roses, Lloyd, Marks, etc. Rakesh
