Have a look at Geoggrey Ingham's book 'The Nature of Money', and at attached paper by Tcherneva or at papers by Forstater for instance http://www.epicoalition.org/docs/the_natural_rate.htm Paul Cockshott Dept of Computing Science University of Glasgow +44 141 330 1629 www.dcs.gla.ac.uk/~wpc/reports/ -----Original Message----- From: ope-bounces@lists.csuchico.edu on behalf of dogangoecmen@aol.com Sent: Fri 4/4/2008 9:22 AM To: ope@lists.csuchico.edu Subject: Re: [OPE] How to read Capital Dave Z But commodities are empirical and money is an empirical fact. The question is how we are going to explain the genesis of money. There are, generally speaking, two theories on this: formal and materialist theories of money. The classical (pre-Marx) explanations of money with a reference to barter is a formal one. Adam Smith sensed that when he said production can do without money. Contemporary theories which separates entirely financial markets from material production are formalist theories of money. Marx's explanation of the genesis of money is a materialist one. So that is all I know about this issue. Fine, but the deduction is empirically false. //Dave Z _______________________________________________ ope mailing list ope@lists.csuchico.edu https://lists.csuchico.edu/mailman/listinfo/ope ________________________________________________________________________ Bei AOL gibt's jetzt kostenlos eMail für alle.
