OVERALL, July was *BY FAR* the ***S-L-O-W-E-S-T*** month in list history.
We set [undesirable] records this month for the lowest participation rate
and the lowest volume.
In part, the above is a consequence of the summer (indeed, several
listmembers had to set their mail to "postpone" this month because of
absences for vacations and conferences). Yet, this can not be the entire
answer for the slow down -- as can be seen by comparing figures from
July, 1996 to July of this year:
