I can accept Allin's position if that Rosser consents in writing that
he will not quote the archives except with written permission of all those
involved in the particular issue being addressed. My reasoning is the OPE
should remain a place where persons can talk outloud and make "mistakes"
and change their minds. Furthermore, speaking for myself, I have not
posted to OPE expecting to be quoted outside the archives, but rather to
learn and dialogue.

The specific question at hand is whether we consent to open the
archive to someone, namely Barkley Rosser, who is clearly a
serious scholar and who is known personally to many of us.
Once again, I vote "yes", without prejudice to the issue of
making the OPE archive generally public.

If people positively want their ideas to be accessible to the
public at large, there is an obvious expedient: publish in the
journals.
