A reply to Jerry's OPE-L 2022.

You're right that preservation of aggregate value is *a* major
issue taken up in the Dumenil/Levy paper. But their paper isn't
"*just* a 'rejoinder' to Alan," since other aspects of the paper
deal with whether the sum of value transferred from means of
production to the product is determined temporally or
simultaneously. Among the aspects of the paper that deal with the
latter are the alleged "productivity paradox" and the claim that
it's okay that simultaneism allows commodities to have two
different values at one and the same time because "values are not
prices." My paper, "Determination of Value in Marx and in
Bortkiewiczian Theory" also concerns this latter issue, as a
question of interpretation of Marx's theory. It shows that he
held that the sum of value transferred from means of production to
the product is determined temporally.
