Catherine Samary joins our list today from Paris.

Catherine received her PhD in economics in 1986 (Paris X). Her
dissertation on the Yugoslav reforms from 1947 to 1980 was later
published as _Le marche contre l'autogestion_ (Paris, PubliSud/La Breche,
1988). She also wrote "Plan, marke and democracy: the experience of the
so-called socialist countries" (Amsterdam, International Institute for
Research and Education, Notebook No. 7/8, 1988) and "The dismemberment
of Yugoslavia published by Monthly Review Press. She also writes
regularly for a number of journals and contributed an article to Gilbert
Achcar ed. _The Legacy of Ernest Mandel_.

As economist, I'm teaching at the University PAris IX-Dauphine. My
research that I'm ready to share is about the main following questions
1°) theoritical and practical questions of socialism ; analysis of the
Yugoslav and othe so-called socialist experiences ; their reforms, their
crisis and what we can learn out of that. Plan, market relationship of
property, democracy...
2°) globalisation and the capitalist restauration - comparative aspects,
theoritical questions
3°) Criteria of efficiency and social justice in economy
