Alfredo raised the question:

Q): What is the difference, for Marx, between:
=================================
(a) a machine
(b) an animal
(c) a slave
(d) a wage worker
supposing that all of them are employed by capital in the production of
commodities? *Why* does each of them does/does not add value to
the output.

A): The questions are already replied by Marx, I think.

1. (a), (b) & (c) are fixed capitals but (d) is a variable capital.

2. (c) does not add value but (d) does because (c) is not the kind of abstract labor in that the free versatility of labor is not adapted by the slaves themselves.
