Your analogy, Paul, I think drives my point home. Ricardo may to Smith, as Beethoven to Haydn, but I would think Marx is to Ricardo, as Ramsey Lewis or Louis Armstrong (jazz) is to Beethoven. That would be the "different method" analogy. There are a number of paths for clarifying the relation of Marx to Ricardo, only one of which is "you are overmuch of all this". Paul Z.
