Well, the best laid plans etc. I'm sorry to say that Professor Garegnani has come down with a bad case of the flu and is unable to travel, so the symposium scheduled for Wednesday afternoon has been cancelled. Pierangelo talls me he may visit New York later in the Spring, and I hope then that students who expressed an interest in meeting him will be able to do so at that time. Antonella Palumbo, of the University of Rome, however will be in New York, and I am trying to arrange for her to make a seminar presentation at the Graduate Faculty in the next few days. Details on this will follow as they become available, but it is likely to be rather short notice. I'm sorry this didn't work out. All are invited to attend. Professor Garegnani will be in New York for about a week-and-a-half, starting on March 6. He would be glad to make himself available to any students who would like to meet with him during that period. He would also be happy to present one or two additional lectures for any students who might be interested. Before scheduling these meetings or additional lectures, I'd like to get a sense of the level of interest. Could I ask interested students to e-mail me privately, to let me know whether you're interested in making an appointment with Professor Garegnani, or in attending an additional lecture (perhaps indicating what you'd like him to talk about) or both. Further information about Professor Garegnani's office hours or additional lectures will be provided at the time of the symposium. The precise location of the symposium will be posted shortly. Thanks to all for your interest. Gary Mongiovi mongiovg@stjohns.edu (212) 366-5980 << File: garegnani.symposium.doc >>
