Hi Alejandro (good to hear from you!),

What we mean by "Southerner" is one who lives (or came from) the Southern
part of the United States.  I grew up in Louisiana and Georgia, and I
think Patrick is from Florida.  We do not mean one who is from South
America, if that is what is behind your question.  Sorry for our parochial
point of view.
