Thank you for responding to my inquiry.  

I think you have established a good practice for handling such concerns as
may arise.  I do think that the list should be informed of your activities,
even when the query goes directly to the Committee.  I understand, however,
that sometimes you would need to be circumspect in your reporting.

On one point regarding the Committee, I am unclear.  Will the Committee
always be apprised of suggestions for new listmembers and permitted to
offer its reaction before an addition takes place (e.g., the two or three
additions which have taken place since the Committee's formation)?  Such a
practice would be preferable to 'ad hoc' advice determining membership.
