Might I suggest that the participants review and discuss the section entitled "d) Critical Battle Against French Materialism" in The Holy Family. He differentiates in that section between two trends in French materialism, one which leads to socialism, the other which "merges with French natural science proper ". I believe that close scrutiny of what he says in this section and not long after in the Eleven Theses and The German Ideology indicates that materialism as represented by physics has nothing to do with Marxist materialism.
