Paul C:  did you say that you were hoping for sources more
recent than Gilman?  Have you seen the paper by
Rodney Edvinsson presented at the October, 2003 economic-
historical meeting in Lund entitled  "The Tendency for the Rate
of Profit to Fall?:  Theoretical Considerations and Empirical
Evidence for Sweden 1800-2000"?

Oddly, the paper ends with 2000  so it might or might not
be of interest to you depending on how far back you
