Rakesh,

The subject of venezuela seems to have lapsed with your view that Chavez
leaves much to be desired, or worse , is a demagogue. You might like to look
at le Monde Diplomatique

http://mondediplo.com/2002/08/10venezuela

for a nice view of the way the media in Venezuela treats him, and why. In
a constant state of warfare between classes the media is virtually the
message . The issue never ceases, thus in a Press release 01/07/2004 the
Ministry of Finance innVenezuela felt compelled to issue a statement 'A
recent press report has taken a comment of President Chavez out of
context'... on this occasion on control of foreign exchange reserves per se
and control of the Central Bank. The Economist more recently has blurred
the facts about the same issue in a very recent issue.
