Hi,
I wanted to let folks know about a newly expanded web-based project
involving a number of Globolisters. The project is called Gloves
Off: Bare-Fisted Political Economy. Gloves Off aims to encourage and
extend an analysis of radical political economy among those active
within and in solidarity with the global justice, anti-war and other
solidarity movements. The website includes an exciting mix of
interviews, insightful articles and a running weblog of current
issues. There is also a manifesto calling for action in the year
ahead.

Gloves Off was started by Sara Burke in the wake of last February's
unprecedented worldwide protests opposing the looming Anglo-US war on
Iraq. Last summer Sara was joined by Claudio Puty and the site was
expanded. Shortly before marking it's first year the Gloves Off
editorial collective was expanded to include Paul Cooney, Melissa
Mahoney and myself. It is safe to say that the Gloves Off group was
energized by its first meeting and we are working on a new issue (top
page) that will go out on March 20th.

Finally, I want to say that I am personally very excited about
working with Sara, Claudio, Paul and Melissa on Gloves Off. Some of
you may be aware that with the help of Sander, Steve and Sara, I was
looking at setting up some sort of blog companion to the Globolist.
Well, Gloves Off serves the purpose of a 'globoblog' and then some.
It represents an extension of the kind of analysis and commentary
that has appeared on this list and it offers new opportunities for
political and intellectual engagement. It is my hope that folks on
this list -- there are 37 of us these days -- consider Gloves Off a
sister project and find ways to get engaged there as well.
