Chris A claims "the truth is that *Marx never used the term 'simple commodity production' in his life*" and "it is certain he never referred to the capitalistically produced commodity as a secondary derivative form." Chris also notes that the only time when the expression 'simple commodity production' _did_ occur in _Capital_ was in Volume III but that this expression was inserted there by Engels (Christopher J. Arthur _The New Dialectic and Marx's Capital_ Leiden; Boston; Koln: Brill, 2002, p. 19; emphasis in original). The question I have is who is the originator of the expression 'simple commodity production' and what was the work where it was first used? Was it first used by Engels in _Anti-Duhring_ , the Volume III addition referred to above, or someplace else? Is there any reference in the correspondence of Engels to 'einfache Warren-produktion'? Or, does the expression _pre-date_ Engels? E.g. did Quesnay, Smith, Ricardo, Lassalle, Proudhon, etc. ever use it before Engels did? In solidarity, Jerry
