> What struck me was that although it represents a serious attempt > by the anti-globalisation movement to think of an alternative, > no serious consideration was given to socialist planning. Paul C, It's mentioned in a short paragraph (pages 25-26; also see note #31), but not really discussed to any significant extent. To be able to further a discussion with the anti-globalization movement about alternative economic models perhaps there is a need then of developing _alternative_ conceptions of socialist planning that emphasize workers' control and participation, decentralization, and perhaps even autonomy. (Note the reference in their work to PARECON.) Are others on the list having discussions along those lines with anti-globalization activists? I wonder if the ATTAC authors are familiar with _Towards a New Socialism_ (http://ricardo.ecn.wfu.edu/~cottrell/socialism_book/ )? You could call it to their attention and express a willingness to talk to them about it and related issues .... In solidarity, Jerry http://www.attac.de/awwo/diskussionspapier/041031/awwo-041031b.pdf
