I think the point remains, though, that for Marx to claim that a contradiction "seems" odd isn't that odd: it's another way of writing "At first glance ...." or other expressions to a similar effect. It is a part of the dialectical exposition that attempts to explain contradictions by, in part, moving beyond the form in which a contradiction immediately or first appears. > Do you remember the bumper stickers "Start seeing > Motorcycles"?
