Rather, (especially since Sartre was listed as one of the candidates for "The Greatest Philosopher") it was an excuse for bringing to the attention of the list the article by Rebecca Pitt from _Socialist Worker_ (UK) on Sartre. While I can hardly disagree with the conclusion of the article ("Sartre's work needs to be read") I was quite surprised by the fact that it was so *uncritical* of Sartre. I don't really understand why the SWP (UK) would want to publish such a laudatory, uncritical article on Sartre now. Do others know why? In solidarity, Jerry > > Are you going to vote for Sartre? :-)
