Raya Dunayevskaya was, with the pseudonym of Freddie Forrest, political active by the 1930's (she was a secretary for Trotsky in 1938) and because of her political influence her life has been pretty much of an open book. It's just not plausible to think that she could have got her PhD from Radcliffe with the name Bernice Shoul and published under that name and no one for all of the following years would have noticed. Dunayevskaya's perspective was never very close to that of Grossmann whereas Shoul was. Also, their methodological perspectives during the same time period were quite different with Shoul describing Marx's method as one of successive approximation. btw, Dunayevskaya was aware of Blake's book and recommended reading it by those who wanted to learn more about _Capital_. She also recommended Sweezy [_The Theory of Capitalist Development_, Part I), Dobb [_Political Economy and Capitalism_, Chapters I-IV], Robinson [_An Essay on Marxian Economics_], Roll [_A History of Economic Thought_, Chapters V-VII], Lenin [_The Teachings of Karl Marx_], Trotsky [_Living Thoughts of Karl Marx_], Engels [Review of Marx's Critique of Political Economy_; _On Capital_] and Marx's _The Critique of the Gotha Programme_ and _Critique of Political Economy_.
