Hi Paul C,

That's a very timely question -- see the following recent news
release from Ocean Books. Also, see their website
<http://www.oceanbooks.com.au>. I reported on this to the list
some time ago, e.g. see
<http://ricardo.ecn.wfu.edu/~cottrell/ope/archive/0204/0135.html>

In solidarity, Jerry

                  + 13/02/2006 - PREVIOUSLY UNPUBLISHED MANUSCRIPT BY
ERNESTO CHE GUEVARA

LAUNCHED AT HAVANA BOOK FAIR BY RICARDO ALARCON,
PRESIDENT OF CUBAN NATIONAL ASSEMBLY

A previously unpublished manuscript by Ernesto Che
Guevara was launched at the Havana Book Fair in early
February 2006.

The Spanish-language edition of the Ocean Press book --
"Apuntes Criticos a la Economia Politica" ("Critical
Notes on Political Economy") -- was launched by Ricardo
Alarcon, President of Cuba´s National Assembly. The book
was published by Ocean Press in association with the Che
Guevara Studies Center of Havana, Cuba.

Taking part in the Havana launch were Alarcon, Aleida
March, director of the Che Guevara Studies Center,
Eusebio Leal, Historian of Havana, Maria del Carmen
Ariet, research coordinator of the Che Guevara Studies
Center, and David Deutschmann, president of Ocean Press.

This is the first publication in any language of Che
Guevara´s controversial and critical analysis of the
Soviet economic model. As minister for industry and head
of Cuba´s National Bank, Che Guevera prepared this
manuscript -- which he was unable to finish before
leaving for Bolivia in late 1966 -- to compare the Cuban
experience with that of the Soviet bloc.

Included in the new book is an unpublished biographical
essay by Che Guevara on Karl Marx and Frederich Engels.
The book also contains extensive appendices of Che
Guevara´s interventions in the monthly meetings of the
leadership of the Cuban Ministry of Industry.

The English edition of the book will be released in late
2006.

A companion volume to "Apuntes criticos a la Economia
Politica" is "Gran Debate: La Economia en Cuba, 1963-64"
("The ´Great Debate´ on Political Economy") also just
published by Ocean Press. The English edition of "Great
Debate" will be published by Ocean Press in late 2006.
