John McDermott's book was published in 2004 by University of Michigan Press. The publisher has a very nice feature called "Look Inside" which allows you to see many parts of this book: < http://www.press.umich.edu/titleDetailLookInside.do?id=17693 > General product info is at: http://www.press.umich.edu/titleDetailDesc.do?id=17693 McDermott is a Professor Emeritus at SUNY (it doesn't say what campus: do you know Paul Z?) and (former?) member of the editorial board of the _Review of Radical Political Economics_. On the back cover, there are endorsements from 3, including Gary M, who wrote: "John McDermott's thought-provoking and ambitious book challenges conventional notions of how labor market economies function and evolve. Drawing on Marx, Gramsci, and Schumpeter, McDermott presents a detailed and sociologically nuanced account of the market process -- one that is at odds with the 'spontaneous order' hypothesis of Popper and Hayek. This book will spark much debate." Where has the debate been, Gary? In solidarity, Jerry
