Four weeks ago, the U.S. funded and armed Israeli military launched a
full-scale war against Lebanon, its infrastructure, its social fabric
and its people. On this week's program, Dr. Azmi Beshara will be in
conversation with Dr. Samara Esmeir about the destructive political
operations of the war, the alignments within Israel that gave birth
to this war, the regional and the global state of affairs enabling
it, the political meanings of various forms of violence, as well as
their relation to the U.S. projects of "democracy" in the Middle
East, Israel's history in the region and practices of resistance.
Azmi Beshara is a member of the Israeli Parliament, on behalf of the
Palestinian party, the National Democratic Assembly, and a former
Professor of Philosophy at Bir Zeit University in the West Bank.
