Yes, dear Rakesh, he is John Rawls after all and did a great job for bourgeois society when came up with his theory of justice. It was the only rescue and means for many academics to fight Marxism after 1970s. In his chapters on Marx he draws on Geras, Allen Wood and Foley. I read the chapters on Marx in the bookstore, but he is remarkably sympathetic to Marx, though of course he advocates a social democracy guided by his principles of justice over Marxian communism. His understanding of Marx's basic historical materialism echoes Max Adler's, though he indeed does not really understand Marx's three most important theories--the general theory of modes of production in terms of a contradiction of forces and relations of production, the specific theory of the laws of motion of the capitalist mode of production, and the theory of class struggle as the bearer of historical change.
