Jerry: Hi Paul C: So, you think that the value of labour power is also determined by what is _technically_ necessary? ------------------------ No - labour power is not a commodity produced under capitalist relations Of production but an instance where the commodity form obscures what is basically a distribution of income between classes. The mechanisms regulating the class distribution of income are different from those regulating the prices of commodities. ------------------- Gerry: I think you missed the import of Howard's comment that "you cannot remove the way class relations determine social need from what counts as socially necessary labor time". -------------- No, because he was using the words 'need' and 'necessary' in the ambiguous sense to which I object.
