Dear Jerry:

Thanks for accepting my participation in OPE-L mailing list. I define myself as a Market Socialist that sees in Cottrell & Cockshott model a feasible solution of the economic calculation problem and a beautiful intellectual achievement.

I would like to share with the group a brief paper written in Spanish and forthcoming at a Chilean Journal: Revista Academica Polis (attached herewith), dealing with Market Socialism.

My research work:

I recently joined the new created left wing Robert Owen Institute. I’m currently Associate Professor of Industrial Economics at Antonio de Nebrija University (Madrid) and write my PhD dissertation at Complutense University of Madrid dealing with the impossibility of economic calculation controversy. Also, I’m honorary collaborator in the Department of Applied Economics V at Complutense University and member of the Labour Theory of Value and Post-capitalism Discussion Group regularly met in the same department. My research interests are related with the genesis and development of Austrian economics, the economic theory of market socialism and the normative frontiers of economic efficiency in a democratic commonwealth.

Best regards,

Alejandro Agafonow

Dear Alejandro:

I am pleased to tell you that you are hereby being  invited to
join the OPE-L (Outline on Political Economy) list.  We are a
(relatively) small Internet mailing list and collaborative group
which has been discussing controversial issues in political economy,
including themes relating to "extending Marx", since September, 1995.
I will send you separately a listing of current subscribers. Our
archives are at: <http://ricardo.ecn.wfu.edu/~cottrell/ope/archives>

Should you choose to accept, please send me any information about
yourself that you would be willing to share with the list in a post
I would send welcoming you (a list tradition).  Be aware that our
archives are publicly accessible so anyone will be able to read what
has been written.  It can be as long or as short as you like. I would
like some information for that message about where you live and work and
what your writings and research interests are.

If there is ever anything that you would like to talk to me about
off-list, then please feel free to contact me at this address or
glevy@pratt.edu

I look forward to hearing from you.

Comradely, Jerry Levy
Coordinator, OPE-L
