New Latin American publishing project and magazine to be launched al LASA, Montreal, September 6-8

OCEAN SUR is a new, independent, Spanish-language publishing project based in Latin America.

After developing a strong editorial list of books on and from Latin America over its nearly 20 year history, early in 2006 Ocean Press decided to establish a separate Spanish-language publishing project: Ocean Sur. We now have almost 100 titles in print.

This exciting new publishing project offers readers revolutionary voices from the past, present and future of Latin America: from Bolívar and Martí, to Che Guevara, Fidel Castro, Roque Dalton, Haydée Santamaría, Hugo Chávez and many others, reflecting the rebirth of Our America.

Titles will cover past and current debates among the left and social movements, indigenous and women’s struggles, revolutionary theory, reflecting the views of the leading intellectuals, artists, writers, poets and activists from Latin America.

Ocean Sur has offices in Mexico, Cuba, El Salvador and Venezuela and our books are distributed in Argentina, Central America, Chile, Colombia, Cuba, Ecuador, El Salvador, Mexico, Peru, Uruguay and Venezuela, as well as Canada, the United States, Britain and Europe.

CONTEXTO LATINOAMERICANO is a new quarterly magazine of political analysis published by Ocean Sur. Written from Latin America by Latin Americans, it aims to facilitate and promote the exchange of ideas among activists and political and social movements throughout the continent. It offers timely forum for debate on current political and cultural issues in Latin America.

Contexto Latinoamericano is edited by Roberto Regalado, a leading Cuban political analyst and author of Latin America at the crossroads/ América Latina entre siglos. The editorial advisory board of the magazine includes representatives of a broad range of political currents and individuals of the Latin American left.

Contexto Latinoamericano is a crucial, up-to-date resource for US academics, students, and activists interested in contemporary Latin America.

OCEAN SUR titles and CONTEXTO LATINOAMERICANO will be on display and for sale at LASA in Montreal, Sept 6-8.
