In South Africa, it definitely is, because of a set of bad experiences
in the 1970s-80s (two-stagism, poulantzian fractions of capital,
monopoly capital, social history, regulation theory).
We're trying to rebuild poli econ at http://www.ukzn.ac.za/ccs and last
month issued a journal special issues ('Transcending Two Economies') in
which a young Marxist scholar-activist, David Masondo, clears away some
old theoretical/applied rubbish.
