I didn't know Andrew Glyn personally, nor necessarily agreed with him about everything (for example, the Chinese "reserve army of labour" thesis, which is so popular these days), but I benefited from his writings as a student interested in the empiria. It's a very sad loss when a socialist of such learning and humanity dies before his time. I've had two comrades who also suddenly died like that some years ago, it was an awful thing to happen for their family and friends.
