A (fairly long) video with a Green "consume less" perspective.  
Some of the claims made are neo-Malthusian, I think.

The answer suggested in the video is for workers' leisure time 
to be increased (hence "workers of the world relax"):

"The solution is that any gains in increased efficiency have
to be offset by increased leisure time and not more stuff
being produced".
