Dear Michael Eldred:

You question the idea of social justice, but you don’t even cite Rawls or at least Hayek as a detractor of the idea.

Social justice is not a “pleonastic notion concerned with caring for the members of society whose proper name is charity”.

In fact, Hayek and Austro-liberals propose to substitute social justice with charity!

I encourage you to try to question the idea of “autonomy” that supports social justice. There are several sources for this idea, but in my criterion the more prolific goes back to Kant and Rousseau and reaches Rawls in the 20th century.

Are you ready for questioning the modern theory of social contract?

Kind regards,
A. Agafonow

Why?

1. Because OPE-L is not a place where you are likely to get a sympathetic
hearing for neo-liberal  views that are well to the right of Christian
  Democracy.
2. There are alternative neo-liberal and neo-Austrian forums which might be
more suitable, but even in such a forum, the pretentious and wordy form
taken by your very thin arguments is likely to restrict interest in your
  two papers .

There are much more intellectually rigorous and lively accounts
available for the basic points you are putting forward.

Why? For the precious few whose minds are not made up.

All your terms are more than questionable.
Materialism, too, is an idea.
Even the issues of political economy are not settled, above all, the question concerning value, which underpins Ver. 3.0 of "Why social justice is a specious idea".

Friends of philosophy,

Here is one new article:

1.) Absolutely Divine Everyday: Tracing Heidegger's thinking on
godliness -
With an appendix on Aristotle's purely energetic god of the fair

Paper presented to the conference Heidegger und Religion in Messkirch,
04-07 June 2008. The appendix endeavours to rethink Aristotle's famous
god in his Metaphysics.

and one revised article (Version 3.0)

2.) Why social justice is a specious idea

The seductive, comforting idea of social justice leads inevitably to an
all-caring, social-totalitarian state that ruins its citizens
(inter-)play.
