True enough, Michael.

Some of the more likely wild card possibilities include
Russia, China, and UNASUR but - as you say - they
can come from unexpected directions. British capital, in the
form of Barclay's, is performing a wild card-type
role.

The latest state gamble regarding AIG may 'work' or not:
it could be that (mixing metaphors) that horse has already
left the barn. As with any gamble, they can win or lose.
But, the stakes are pretty high with this one. Yet, what
choice does US capital and the state have? They can hardly
be expected to 'fold' - especially before they've played every
card that they hold ... and tried their luck at 'cheating'.

In solidarity, Jerry
