It is not the quote that Jurriaan extracted from Draper's book. I think it belonged to a letter from Marx, perhaps to Engels. What he was saying is something like the following (if you allow me to change entirely the context):
"I shold criticize the PSOE (Partido Socialista Obrero Espa�ol, "left") before the PP (Partido Popular, "right") because the former is "closer" to me, and the closer people are politically, the more necessary is to reveal how the things really are. I don't know if Marx was referring to politicians or to intellectuals and writers: I think it was the latter.

None of you remember this passage?
