[OPE] Negative dialectics: no trust in the Middle East - Tzipi Livni says you've really got to be seen to be fighting them, no shit!

"We will never sign an agreement with Hamas," [Israeli Defence Minister Ehud] Barak told ministers, "I simply suggest that we begin speaking in a more realistic way? It will help us deal with the real challenges of the Middle East, rather than the reality as we imagine it to be." Barak and Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni engaged in a harsh argument during Sunday's cabinet meeting over Israel's response to the Egyptian-brokered deal for a year-long truce with Hamas. Barak, the Labor chairman, spoke in favor of agreeing to the deal, while Livni, the Kadima chairwoman, held that Israel should reject it. Livni attacked Barak for maintaining a far too conciliatory position toward Hamas that "reconciles itself with the Hamas regime and wants to reach understandings with it." http://www.haaretz.com/hasen/spages/1060585.html

Meanwhile, Ehud Olmert, Israel's prime minister, has vowed his country will deliver a "severe and disproportionate response" after Palestinian fighters fired rockets into southern Israel. "We've said that if there is rocket fire against the south of the country, there will be a severe and disproportionate Israeli response to the fire on the citizens of Israel and its security forces," he said on Sunday at the weekly cabinet meeting. At least three rockets were fired from the Gaza Strip on Sunday, but caused no damage or injuries, police said. The al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades group told Al Jazeera that it carried out the attacks. http://english.aljazeera.net/news/middleeast/2009/02/2009219533438613.html

You can see here clearly the difference in style: Livni is playing dominatrix and woos rightwing voters, Al-Aqsa says basically "we're going to try to hit them, don't care if we die", and Olmert says basically "we're going to smash them, no matter what they do". No wonder nothing ever gets solved in those parts. Point is, they all love to hate, negative dialectics. This being the case, we shouldn't follow the idiotic, fascist American spiessburgers who believe Israel/Palestine marks a high point of human civilization. It is rather a low point in human civilization, combining middleclass semantic refinement with completely dehumanizing barbarism. These people have lost any sense of the goals of human life on earth, they are fighting each other on the basis that they believe they have eternal life already, and that their miserable earthly politics have a meaning for eternity - all this with rich helpings of subsidies from their foreign sympathizers. In other words, they are die-hard fanatics, who believe reality should conform to their own principle. Alas, it will not. But meantime, plenty people perish.

never cared for what they say
never cared for games they play
never cared for what they do
never cared for what they know
and I know
So close, no matter how far
Couldn't be much more from the heart
Forever trusting who we are
No, nothing else matters

- Metallica, "Nothing else matters"
