Scope of Topics

The symposium provides a forum for broad range of research that deal with all aspects of critical accounting and the labor process. A broad range of research methodologies will be considered.

The ANLP Symposium has its origins in Critical Accounting research. It incorporates applied work in labor process studies, as they relate to pressing issues of our times. These include (but not limited to) the realization crises of modern economies that are presently expressed in the Subprime/mortgages turmoil, emerging credit card instabilities, and -- in general -- the fragilities of the banking sector, nationally and internationally.  These topics are the most urgent at present.  The conference will also consider submissions covering more traditional content, such as:

•           Backdating and Stock Options

•           The Political Economy of accounting

•           Accounting's role in international capital markets Reporting-impact      on stock market instabilities

•           Accounting / auditing and Money-laundering

•           Regulation of national and international banking

•           Management accounting and the organization of the labor process

•           The Accountability of Government functions

•           Accounting (History) as Social Memory

•           Accounting and democracy in the workplace

•           Accounting's adjudicative function in international relations (e.g.          Third World debt)

The constantly changing nature of accounting and its various problematics requires that the list above be considered open and provisional.
