What you see Allin is some minor quasi-market mechanisms operating along with socialists dictatorships (Liberman’s reforms in USSR, ‘cuentapropistas’ in Cuba, etc. China has simply become a capitalist dictatorship). The socialist nature of some institutions in capitalist economies (progressive tax systems, social security, free and universal health services, etc.) don’t make them socialist economies.

It may well be the case that Western advocates of market socialism
are also advocates of political liberalism, but don't confuse
ideology and the real. Jerry is right: market socialism can be
found in conjunction with authoritarian regimes.
