Jerry,

Italian designers in the 80's and 90's actuallu trawled, on their own
admission, London, to see how youth 'dressed', and this went further back
than 'punk'... indeed the sponaneity of the'less educated' (trained and
socialised ) classes is more often than not the source inspiration for many
new social prejudices.
