If you are looking for photographs of workers in Britain during the
1840s you have to
look at the work of Octavius Hill and Robert Adamson. Photography was
invented in
1839, and their work starts in 1843 and runs till 1848.
Their work contains many photos of working people from the 1840s.
Glasgow University has a collection of their work, but many images are
available from google image.
I will contact the university library if you want hiqh quality copies of
the images in electronic form.
