Paul Z.,

I am not "hostile to academics" at all or as a general category. I wanted to
be a scholar myself for a long time.

When I read the ms. bij Martha I wondered what the purpose of this piece of
communication is, and why Jerry posted it. Martha's Marxist schooling was
Althusserian and indeed she wrote a whole book about that. I am
anti-Althusserian, very strongly so, it is a falsification of Marx. Almost
every Althusserian concept twists and distorts Marx into something else.

I said, some academics who think of themselves as politicians might like
this sort of thing. There are certainly such academics around, and they
pursue political activites with varying succes.

The more substantive point is that I strongly disagree with the Leftist
analysis of neoliberalism. The Left is among other things anti-freedom,
anti-responsibility, anti-markets, and does not recognize progress when it
occurs. Because of this, it is unable to understand the modern world.

But this is a very large and complex topic and I cannot do justice to it
here now in this email.

Jurriaan
