[OPE] CFP, "Towards an economic sociology of the current economic crisis"

The 2010 Interim Conference of the Research Network of Economic Sociology
(ESA)

Call for papers "Towards an economic sociology of the current economic
crisis"

The current economic crisis raises fundamental questions for economic
sociologists. These are questions that range from the sociology of finance
more narrowly defined to other areas like social capital, valuation,
status, stigma, trust, performativity, and cultural forms, as well as
issues relating to the broader impact of the crisis such as the euro,
housing markets, economic migration - all seem crucial for a substantive
sociological understanding of the crisis. This interim conference invites
paper proposals that help us to understand the crisis from a sociological
point of view.

The conference will take place at the 5th and 6th December 2010 at the
Mövenpick Hotel in Bielefeld (Germany). The Conference will be conducted
in English.

Deadline: Abstracts are welcomed till 15th July 2010. Please include a
paper title, 250-300 word abstract, author?s name, institutional
affiliation, mailing and email addresses and send them to

Publication:

It is anticipated that a set of selected conference papers will be
published. Participants are asked to give us priority in the publication
of their papers presented in the conference.

About the Network:

Since the inception of the ESRN and its first meeting, held in the context
of the Amsterdam ESA conference in 1999, there have been additional
meetings held in Moscow, (2000), Helsinki (2001), Murcia (2003), Rethymno
(2004), and Torún (2005), Libson (2006), Glasgow (2007), Krakow (2008),
and Lisbon (2009). In the course of these meetings more than 400 papers
have been presented and discussed. The papers cover an extensive array of
economic sociology themes, and demonstrate a growth in interest in this
expanding sociological subfield. The current research coordinators of the
networks are Oliver Kessler (University of Bielefeld) and Nigel Dodd
(LSE):
