I am sure you are right, I was just meaning that if you were looking for under consumption Germanyy Cina and Japan would be the places to look, as per the article Dave posted. .

Paul

I imagine you have seen the new figures on the increase in poverty in the
USA? Polarisation within the US (not withstanding my opposition to
under-consumption as an 'explanation' of crisis... except in Engels sense
that the majority of the global working class are forced to consume less
than they produce, and that that relation is the cause of the permanent
crisis within capital)

I one is looking for under consumption, the USA is hardly the place one
would start to look.

Dear Friend,

Marxist-Humanist Initiative (MHI) is pleased to announce the launch of a new
online Marxist-Humanist publication, With Sober Senses at

http://www.marxist-humanist-initiative.org (click on "Our Publication")

<snip>
New articles include:

* "Lies, Damned Lies, and Underconsumptionist Statistics" by Andrew Kliman.
Shows that the underconsumptionist account of economic crisis is incorrect.
Neither U.S. workers' share of national income nor their real compensation
have fallen in recent decades, and productive investment spending has grown
faster than personal consumption since the Great Depression.

<snip>

In solidarity,

Anne Jaclard, National Secretary, MHI
