Vagina Monologues," whose advocacy group, V-Day, has been working with
Congolese women for years. She blamed poor management, bad communication and
racism. "If the women being raped were the daughters or wives or mothers of
the power elites," she said, "I can promise you this war would have ended
about 12 years ago."

The obvious problem with this argument is that it might incite rape of "the
daughters or wives or mothers of the power elites" in a bid to stop the war.
Question it raises is, whether this would be morally justifiable. All's fair
in love and war, isn't that so? Didn't the honorable Shakespeare say so? But
the real question is what would stop the war, and the NYT provides no clues
about that. Why? Presumably, because "there's a war going on, y'know".
