Because it attempts to tie together Lih's recent research with Broue's
research on the German working-class movements; it emphasizes the
differing strategic terrains determined by the political economies of
Germany and Russia unlike historical-idealist explanations; it
highlights real continuities between German and Russian movements which
have been subsequently obscured by the social-democratic and communist
movements.

It would be interesting to read further comparative historical research
on these two key working-class movements of the early 20th century.
