Wow Paula… I’m positively surprised! What a statement in a list that gathers some of the most recalcitrant Marxists (i.e. those that unconditionally support Cuba’s ruler and doesn’t care about the threat that Chavez’s accumulation of power poses). Be prepared to have your blood bayed for. Now it’s Libya, Cuba, China, etc. Personally I don’t think the radical left can get anywhere unless it completely repudiates this shameful tradition and stands firmly with democracy, everywhere in the world. Perhaps the example of the revolutions in the Middle East and North Africa can inspire us to move in this direction. Regarding Jerry’s question – I don’t have a strict definition of fascism. It seems to be a label people apply to the most extreme cases of something that’s entirely normal in the age of imperialism – political reaction with an element of popular support. I’d say Gadhafi’s regime is a pretty extreme example, as bad as General Franco’s in Spain, if not worse. Of course it hasn’t to be your case necessarily. Sadly, many high ranked chavistas in Venezuela seem to be reluctant to accept what’s going on in Libya . Gadhafi is a ruthless tyrant, a fascist, and a monster.
