That does not logically follow: every religion, for instance,
has its myths but which are discussed every day by believers (and,
often, by non-believers and atheists).
 
And, one could add that (pro-capitalist) libertarianism is a religion
complete with its own myths.
 
Sometimes ideological concepts represent a one-sided and incomplete
(mis-)understanding of reality, sometimes not. The evidence is
quite clear, imo, that the concept of 'free competition' has always
meant something other than and more than 'competitive capitalism'.
It never attempted to grasp reality; it was an ideal to be strived for.
